Where to even begin…..

Twitter is now a certified phenomenon.  It seems everyone is talking about twitter and tweeting.  It’s gotten to the point where even news organizations are talking about it and using it.  As we all know twitter is an instant notification system which allows you to give updates on what you’re doinog at any given time.  In other words, now you can know when your friends are taking a shit, drinking coffee, or pretending to work.  What a wonderful age we live in.

If you can’t tell that was sarcasm.  What twitter really is is another way to feed into a persons narcisism.  People actually believe their ‘followers’ actually give a shit about what they’re doing.  In reality people follow you to bolster their own number of followers.  Afterall isn’t it just polite to follow someone who’s added you?  This sort of incestuous relationship is the same thing that drives other social networking sites like facebook and myspace.

So what is twitter really?  Just another outlet for this current vapid, narcissistic generation that we all live in.  Hurray!  We’ve wrested the control of content generation away from the elitists in the entertainment industry.  Nevermind that 99.9% of normal people have absolutely nothing interesting or new to say.
