The RNC is teabagging

tea party

Today is tax day and apparently thousands of Americans have decided to use it to protest our egregious taxation system.  How?  Tea parties!  That’s right the tea parties which conservative news outlets would have you believe are grass roots political movements have been going on all day all over the country.  Apparently the best way to protest is to emulate the act that kicked off the revolutionary war…. how wonderful.  I seem to recall being taught in history class that the Boston Tea Party was to protest taxation without representation.  In short that the Americans (who were actually British) believed only their own elected officials could tax them.

First of all… are these people somehow protesting that our officials are not legally elected?  No.  Are they protesting that a separate government from our own is taxing us and or getting the benefit of our tax dollars?  No.  They are protesting the fact that the tax rate is going from 35% to a whopping 39%.  Yeah 4 fucking percent.  If you look at historic taxation rates in the US our current rate isn’t really that bad.  Also if you look you’ll see that the rate ALWAYS spikes when we go to war…. you know… so we can pay for the damn war.  This time it went down (iraq/afghanistan).  When i say spike i mean it.  It’s been as high as 94% and generally it stays high until our debt is paid down.  Now, i don’t think something like that could be done again (obviously look at the way we react when it goes up 4%).

So not only did they get the metaphor wrong.  The RNC is also encouraging people to send virtual tea-bags to Biden, Pelosi, Reid, and of course Obama.  Wow… and here i thought they were conservative.  Turns out they’re freaks and sexual deviants.
