30’s the new 20, 40’s the new 30. I absolutely hate it when people say shit like this. Anybody who spouts off some bullshit line like 40 is the new 30 is either a) trying to make you feel better about turning 40 or is b) trying to fool themselves because they themselves are 40.

Do you know why 30 is not the new 20? Because at 20 you can go to a night club and not look like a complete tool. At 30… that’s not so easy. That’s because at 30 you now run the very real risk of being the skeevy old guy at the club. Or the pathetic old cougar.

Basically 40 is the same old 40 that it’s always been. That’s not to say getting older sucks, there’s good and bad to it all. You just have to stop fooling yourself that you’re still young first. Then again lying to ourselves and faking ourselves out is really one of those few things that we always do isn’t it?
